My Books – Historical Liverpool Stories

pop art three girls illustrating a page about historical Liverpool StoriesMy series of historical Liverpool stories are based in the inner city area of Toxteth where I grew up.

All of my novels feature strong female characters – women struggling with life, love, and poverty in the 1970s inner city.

Mostly the stories deal with these themes with humour and as a writer, I very much enjoy combining comedy with tragedy.

That is certainly true of When The Sun Shines and The Sunshine Girl.

However, not everything in life is funny and I admit that my novella Sweet Little Things is quite sad although ultimately uplifting.

I hope readers will agree that there is truth in the story because I couldn’t have written it any other way.

Piggy Monk Square

A stunningly well-written novel. I didn’t want it to end. Tense, joyous, terrifying, comic, tender, magic and tragic – just like childhood itself.
